NATIONAL HELICOPTER SERVICES LIMITED (NHSL) SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT
   
Safety is the first priority in all our activities.  We are committed to implementing, developing and improving strategies, management systems and processes to ensure that all our aviation activities uphold the highest level of safety performance and meet national and international standards.

Our commitment is to:
  • Ensure “No harm to people, property or the environment”;
  • Develop and embed a safety culture in all our activities that recognizes the importance and value of effective safety management and acknowledges at all times that safety is paramount;
  • Minimize the risks associated with aircraft and ground operations to a point that is as low as reasonably practicable/achievable;
  • Actively develop and improve our safety processes to conform to local legislation and world-class standards;
  • Ensure that all staff are provided with adequate and appropriate safety information and training, are competent in safety matters and are only allocated tasks commensurate with their skills;
  • Reduce environmental impact by conserving energy, reducing consumption, minimizing the production of waste and by promoting the re-use and recycling of materials;
  • Ensure that sufficient resources are available to implement safety strategy and policy;
  • Achieve the highest levels of safety standards and performance in all our activities;
  • Continually improve our safety performance;
  • We will communicate our Safety Management System to our clients, customers and contractors and will partner with them to ensure that all work is carried out safely; and
  • Provide a safe workplace and promote a fair and just culture of open reporting of all safety and environmental risks.
THE CEO/ACCOUNTABLE MANAGER’S STATEMENT OF CORPORATE SAFETY COMMITMENT
   
The General Manager/Accountable Manager:-
    • Has approved the aerodrome’s safety policy and operating safety standards.
    • Will endorse the notification by the Flight Safety Officer (FSO) and Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Officer to all aerodrome staff, tenants and contractors informing them of the safety policy and standards.
    • Will ensure that the Flight Safety Officer (FSO) and Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Officer:
      • - communicates the safety policy to all aerodrome staff, tenants and  contractors in   accordance with the SMS.

        - regularly reviews the safety policy in accordance with the SMS.
    • Will ensure that appropriate resources will be allocated to support the SMS in consultation with the FSO.
    • Will establish an appropriate reporting chain for safety issues in consultation with the FSO.
    • Will actively encourage aerodrome staff, tenants and contractors to participate in development and implementation of the SMS.

        • we will have a formal written safety goal, and we will ensure that everyone understands and accepts that goal
        • we will have a communications and motivation system in place to keep our employees focused on the safety goal
    • Auditing and measuring performance for improvement
        • management will ensure that regular safety audits are conducted
        • we will focus our audits on the behaviour of people, as well as on the conditions of the workplaces
